Step-by-step explanation:

25 cm = 0.25 m

Length of the table top = 4m - (2 × 0.25)m = 4m - 0.50m = 3. 5 m

Bredth of the table top = 2m - (2 × 0.25)m = 2m - 0.50m = 1. 5 m

Area of the table top = l × b = 3. 5 × 1. 5 = 5.25 m2

Cost of polishing the table top at ₹25 per square metre = 5. 25 × 25= Rs 131.25

Length of the cloth = 4 m

Breath of the cloth = 2 m

Since 25cm width of cloth is outside the table on each side.

\therefore \: length \: of \: the \: table = 4 - 2 \times 0.25 = 3.5m \\ breath \: of \: the \: table \: = 2 - 2 \times 0.25 = 1.5m

\therefore \: area \: of \: the \: top \: of \: the \: table \: = (3.5 \times 1.5) {m }^{2} \\

It it is given that the cost of polishing the table top is at the rate of Rs 2.25 per square metre. Therefore,

cost \: of \: the \: polishing \: the \: top \: = </em><em>A</em><em>rea \times </em><em>R</em><em>ate \: per \: sq.metre \\ </em><em>⟹</em><em>R</em><em>s \: (3.5 \times 1.5 \times 2.25) \\</em><em>⟹</em><em> </em><em>R</em><em>s( \frac{7}{2} \times \frac{3}{2} \times \frac{9}{4} ) = rs11.81
