Calorie requirement is higher in rural areas compared to urban areas because people in rural areas are more involved in physical work like agriculture, grazing animals, fishing etc. Such work needs more physical labour and hence more calorie intake is demanded.

People in rural areas require more calories because they do more physical work. Main occupation of the people in rural areas is farming which requires strenous physical activity.
