Area covered under the last ten seconds:-

Distance travelled = Area under graph

∴ Distance travelled = ar(△ABC)

We know,

 \boxed{Area_{triangle} = \frac{1}{2} \times b \times h}

∴ ar(△ABC) = ½(AC)(AB)

⇒ ar(△ABC) = ½(20 - 10 s)(20 m/s)

⇒ ar(△ABC) = ½(10)(20) m

⇒ ar(△ABC) = (10)(10) m

⇒ ar(△ABC) = 100 m (C).

More:-

  • Actually, area under the velocity - time graph shows magnitude of Displacement. Since the body travels in a straight path, the magnitude of displacement will be equal to that of the distance travelled.
  • Slope of v-t graph shows acceleration.

 Slope = \frac{y_2 - y_2}{x_2 - x_1}

  • Also, acceleration = tan(θ) of the graph.
