Answer:

Given:-

A 2m wide path is built inside a square garden of side 35m along the border.

To find:-

a). find the area of the path.

b). Also,find the cost of planting grass in the remaining portion of the garden at the rate of ₹30 per square metre.

Solution:-

Side of the square garden =35 m

Area of a square =side×side sq.units

Area of the square garden

=35×35

Area of the square garden=1225 sq.m--------(1)

Width of the path=2m

If it is built inside of the garden then

Side of the inner square =35-2(2)=35-4=31 m

Area of the inner square

=31×31

Area of the inner square=961 sq.m----------(2)

a)Area of the Path= Area of the square garden- Area of the inner square

=>1225-961 sq.m

=>264 sq.m

Area of the path=264 sq.m

Area of the Remaining portion=Total area of the garden-Area of the Path=961 sq.m

b)Cost of the planting grass in the remaining portion of the garden per 1 sqm=Rs. 30

Area of the planting grass in the remaining portion of the garden of 961 sq.m

=>961×30

=>Rs. 28830

Answer:-

a)Area of the Path=264 sq.m

b)Total cost of planting grass in the remaining garden=Rs. 28830
