Tropic Hormone are the hormones which act upon the other glands than their origin.
Generally, hormones act upon the glands from where they are produced. They are called Local hormones. But sometimes, their target glands may be different. They are called Tropic Hormone.
- They should not be confused with Trophic Hormone.
- The term Tropic is Greek in origin which means "of or pertaining to a urn or change"
Examples:
- Hormones from Anterior Pituitary , like - T.S.H. , A.C.T.H. etc.
- Hormones from Hypothalamus acting on Posterior Pituitary glands etc.
