\huge\bf{Answer :}

Malleability :

⇒ Malleability is the tendency of a substance to get converted into thin sheets on beating up by a hard object.

  • Metal reflects the property of malleability.
  • Non-metals are non-malleable and non-ductile.
  • For example- Alluminium is metal which gets converted into thin sheets which is today used in the form of alluminium foil.

\huge\bf{Extra\: Information :}

  • Metals are the elements which are electronegative in nature, i.e the elements which have the tendency to loose or donate electrons, and thus forming positive ions ( also called cations ).
  • The significant elements that plays a very crucial in the economic development of a particular country are known as strategic elements.
  • Non-metals are those elements which are electropositive in nature, i.e the elements which have the capability of gaining or accepting electrons, and results in the formation of negative ions ( also known as Anions ).
  • In the reaction between a metal and water, the water gets ionised ( or separated ) into H+ and OH- ions. The metal donates the free electrons which are gained by H+ ions and the H+ ions gets converted into an atom of H. The H atom further gets ionised which results in the formation of H2 molecule. Therefore hydrogen gas is released in the form of H2 molecules.
  • Calcium and Magnesium ( in the form of powder ) are those elements which floats on the water on reacting with water. This is because, when they reacts with the water, the hydrogen bubbles which are formed during the reaction, sticks to the surface of calcium and magnesium, which makes them light. Hence, these two metals starts floating on water.
  • The arrangement of the metals in the form of a vertical column in the decreasing order of their chemical reactivity is known as reactivity series of the metals.
