According to me ,
v = f. lambda
f = v/lambda
When medium changes , v changes :- so f should also change. But why it doesn't changes ?
# Need well explained answer

Prakhar2908: We know that is remaining same
Prakhar2908: And we know f = v/lambda
Prakhar2908: I think it could be only possible if v and lambda both increase or decrease by a same factor
Prakhar2908: Am I correct ?
Anonymous: yes .. f remains constant always .. if v increases for rarer medium then wavelength increases too and so we can say that velocity is directly proportional to wavelength ... and its logical too ..

_____Here's your Answer ___________

☆ Frequency can be define as the number of crests that passes a fixed point in the medium in a unit time.

☆ Frequency is dependent on Source not on Medium.

For Example:-

If their is a source that is faster than you , then the number of crest will be faster than yours.

But the speed depends on Property of the Medium. ( Ex;- Temperature or density).

We know that,

Wavelength = Speed / Frequency.

Means Wavelength depends upon Speed as well as Frequency.

So, If the Frequency of the medium is same throughout and only speed changes than ultimately the wavelength also changes.

That's the reason.

_____________

\huge\orange\bold{Why frequency of a sound wave not change with a change in medium ?}

Frequency :-

》Depends upon source (as it is produced from same source so if it change medium frequency won't change)

》 It does not depend upon medium

So......

With change in medium frequency does not change .

\huge\purple\bold{When medium changes , v change , So f should also change }

For different medium and same source :-

f = constant (as I mentioned above )

v=f lemda

as f is constant

So.....

v = constant Lemda

So.....

Frequency doesn't change with change in medium because it depends upon source , Assound is produced by same source so even if it change medium frequency doesnot change .

》》Our Sir said that frequency may change but very little
