Osmotic pressure of the solution is P= 2.463 atmosphere

Explanation:

According to the Ideal gas equation we have PV=nRT

Then pressure will be equal to

P= nRT/V

Given

  • number of moles of glucose =0.020 mol
  • The Volume of water in which glucose is dissolved =200ml

        Temperature= 300k    R rate constant =0.0821L.atm mol 'K

  • Substituting the value of number of moles, temperature and volume in  ideal gas equation
  • P = 0.020×0.0821×300/0.2
  • Pressure =P= 2.463 atmosphere
  • Osmotic pressure of the solution is  P= 2.463 atmosphere
  • Osmotic pressure of the solution is the minimum pressure which is required to stop the inflow of the solvent.
