Answer:

x = 250 y =250

Step-by-step explanation:

0.04x + 0.02y = 5

0.5x  + 0.02y = 30

(-)           (-)           (-) -----------------------> change the sign of terms

----------------------------

-0.1X                 = -25

both negative sign cancelled

0.1x = 25

x  =25/0.1

x = 250/1 (to eliminate decimal number  multiple on both side by 10  (25*10 /0.1*10))

x = 250

subsitute in any above equation to find y value

0.04 (250) + 0.02y = 5

10 + 0.02y = 5

0.02y = 5 - 10

0.02y = 5

y = 5/0.02

y = 5*100/2 (to eliminate decimal number  multiple on both side by 100 (5*100 /0.02*100))

y = 250

x = 250 y =250

seturaj: but real answers is X = 100 Y = 50
seturaj: Use substitution method
kblavanya97: how you know the answer

Answer:

Hey there bud the above answer is wrong,answer for this is y=50 and x=100

Step-by-step explanation:

0.04x+0.02y=5

now u can either keep it this way or multiply it by 100 to get whole numbers. like to keep numbers whole.

therefore= 4x+2y=500

now:

4x+2y= 500

4x = 500-2y

x = (500-2y)/4

Now that we have the first equation. we can replace x in the second equation

5((500-2y)/4)-4y= 30

2500-10y-16y= 1200 (multiply 4 and 30 by 4 to remove the denominator of the equation )

2500-26y= 1200

-26y= 1200-2500

-26y= -1300

-y= -1300/26

-y= -50

y= 50

now u can replace y in the first equation

4x +2(50)=500 (y=50)

4x + 100 = 500

4x = 500-100

4x = 400

x = 400/4

x = 100

Hope this helps you bud. if this helped you I am thankfull
