Given:

0.1 m k2so4 ionises to 10x% to boil at same temperature as 0.2m glucose .

To find:

Value of x.

Calculation:

Since both the solutions boil at the same temperature hence the boiling temperature elevation will be same.

 \therefore \: \Delta T1 = \Delta T2

 = > i1 \times m1 = i2 \times m2

 = > i1 \times 0.1 = 1 \times 0.2

 = > i1 = 2

So, van't Hoff factor for Potassium sulphate is 2.

Now , we know that :

K_{2}SO_{4} \rightarrow \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: {2K}^{ + } \: \: + \: \: {SO_{4}}^{2 - } \\ (1 - 0.1x) \: \: \: \: \: \ 2(0.1x) \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: 0.1x

So, van't Hoff Factor should be :

i = (1 - 0.1x) + 2(0.1x) + 0.1x

 = > i = 1 + 2(0.1x)

 = > i = 1 + 0.2x

 = > 2= 1 + 0.2x

 = > 1 = 0.2x

 = > x = 5

So, value of x is 5.
