The Indian Rebeillion of 1857 had diverse political, economic, military religious and social causes. An uprising in several sepoy companies of Bengal army was sparked by the issue of new gunpowder Cartridge for the Enfield Refill February 1857. The cartridge rumuroed to have Cow and Pig fat....

The great and main important is it led by the brave Rani Jhansi Lakshmibai and Bahadur Shah Zafar, Mangal Pandey, Nana Sahib....

And main centers are Meerut, Delhi, Kanpur, Lucknow, Bihar, Jhansi etc...

Explanation:

The 1857 revolt were political causes, military causes, social causes,and economic causes. The revolt of 1857, known as the Revolt of 1857 or the first war of Indian independence, it eventually broke out over the incident of grease catridge. A rumours spread that catridge of the new rifles with the fat of cows and pigs. Before loading these rifles, the Indian setpiys had to bite off the paper on the catridges. Both Hindu and Muslims refused to use rifles. As Hindu considered Cow as a holy animal while Muslim said as pig was dirty. In march 1857, Mangal Pandey, a sepoy in Barrackpore, refused to use the catridge and killed his senior which was Britsh. General Harsely ordered to jemadar to arrest him but the jemadar refused as he was Indian. Mangal Pandey was hanged and the whole regiment was dimmised as a punishment. Soldiers who refuse to use it, were sentenced to imprisionment. As Indian people were angry and went to revolt. The main center of revolts were Delhi, Jhansi, Kanpur, means usually North India and Kolkata and Murshidabad. It is led by Rani Laxmibai, Delhi emperor 'Bahadur Shah Zafar' and many other fighters.
