Heya !!

0.21 ( bar on 21 )

Let X = 0.21

Then X = 0.2121 -------(1)

Multiply equation (1) by 100 we get,

100X = 21.2121 ----------(2)

Subtract equation (1) from equation (2) we get,

100X= 21.2121
X = 0.21

------------------------

99X = 21

X = 21/99 = 7/33 [ P/Q form ]

Hence,

0.21 ( bar on 21) is of the form of 7/33 which is in the form of P/Q.

\displaystyle \bf{  0. \overline{21} =  \frac{7}{33} }

Which is of the form p/q where p , q are integers and q ≠ 0

Correct question : Express \displaystyle \bf{  0. \overline{21} } in p/q form

Given :

The number \displaystyle \sf{ 0. \overline{21} }

To find :

To express in the form p/q where p , q are integers and q ≠ 0

Solution :

Step 1 of 2 :

Write down the given number

The given number is \displaystyle \sf{ 0. \overline{21} }

Step 2 of 2 :

Express in the form p/q where p , q are integers and q ≠ 0

\displaystyle \sf{ Let  \:  \: x = 0. \overline{21} }

Then x = 0.21212121... - - - - - - - (1)

Multiplying both sides by 100 we get

100x = 21.21212121... - - - - - - (2)

Equation 2 - Equation 1 gives

99x = 21

\displaystyle \sf{ \implies x =  \frac{21}{99} }

\displaystyle \sf{ \implies x =  \frac{7 }{33} }

\displaystyle \sf{ \therefore \:  \:  0. \overline{21} =  \frac{7}{33}}

Which is of the form p/q where p , q are integers and q ≠ 0
