Explanation:

(given)

  • 0.25 gm of a sample of common salt contain 0.1518 gm of chlorine
  • 0.24 gm of another sample contain 0.1458 gm of chlorine

ratios are

0.25 / 0.1518 = 0.24 / 0.1458

1.6460 = 1.6460

hence proved..

Law of constant proportion

Explanation:

The Law of constant proportion states that chemical compounds are made up of elements that are present in a fixed ratio by mass.

The Law of constant proportion is known as Proust law or Law of Definite Proportions.

For example, NaCl has a 1:1 mass ratio and it will remain the same.

in 1 sample NaCl mass is 0.25 gm and the mass of Cl is 0.1518 gm, so the mass of Na is 0.0982 gm.

the ratio of 1st sample is= \frac{0.1518}{0.0982}

                                        = 1.54

in the 2nd sample,  NaCl mass is 0.24 gm, and the mass of Cl is 0.1458 gm, so the mass of Na is 0.0942 gm

the ratio of 2nd sample is =\frac{0.1458}{0.0942}

                                         =1.54

hence, this question obeys the law of constant proportion
