step (1)

multiply 0.3 with both 6 and x i.e.,

(0.3*6) + 0.3x = (0.4*8)- 0.4x

do the multiplication operation in both sides

1.8 + 0.3x =3.2 - 0.4x

now, rearrange

0.3x + 0.4x = 3.2-1.8

this implies that

0.7x = 1.4

therefore

x = 1.4/0.7

hence

x = 0.2

Answer:

Multiply by 10 on both sides

10 × 0.3(6+x) = 10+0.4(8-x)

3(6+x) =4(8-x)

18+3x = 32-4x

18-32 = -4 -3x

-14= -7x

14 = 7x

14/7= x

2 = x
