Answer:

0.3x + 0.4 = 0.28x + 1.16

bring like terms to one side

0.3x - 0.28x = 1 .16 - 0.4

( 0.30 - 0.28 )x = 1.16 - 0.40

0.02x = 0.76

x = 0.76/0.02

Multiply Numerator and denominator by 100 to remove decimal!

x = 0.76 × 100 / 0.02 × 100

x = 76/2

x = 38

0.3x + 0.4 = 0.28x + 1.16 \\  \\  \implies \: 0.3x - 0.28 x= 1.16 - 0.4 \\  \\  \implies0.02x = 0.76 \\  \\  \implies \: x =  \frac{0.76}{0.02}  \\  \\  \implies \: x  =  \frac{76}{2}  \\  \\  \implies \: x = 38
