Let mother age be M and that of son age be S

Therefore according to question,

M=S+21 ...(1)

and 5M=12S ....(2)

Substitute equation (1) in equation (2), we get

5(S+21)=12S

⇒5S+105=12S

⇒7S=105

⇒S=15

Using equation (1), we get

M=15+21=36

Mother age is 36 years and Son age is 15 years.
