The reason is, SO2 has a (comparatively) high boiling point (-10°C), so at a temperature around STP it is quite near to liquid state, and it exhibits measurable deviations from the ideal behaviour - because its molecules still have non-negligible interactions with one another.

Whereas methane, an hydrocarbon with very small interactions betwen molecules, approximates very well an ideal gas at or near STP.
