Concept

A rational number is a number that is of the form p/q where p and q are integers and q is not equal to 0.

Given

We have been given a decimal number 0.75 .

Find

We are asked to determine the given decimal number in the form of p/q .

Solution

To convert a decimal number to a fraction,  write the given number as the numerator and put a 1 just below the decimal point in the denominator followed by the appropriate number of zeros.

0.75 has two numbers after the decimal, so, we place 100 in the denominator and remove the decimal point.

 \frac{75}{100} which on simplification gives  \frac{3}{4} .

Therefore , \frac{3}{4} represents then p/q form of 0.75 .
