Solution : Let 0.833333.......... = x             -------------- equation 1

Now , by multiplying both sides by 10.

 8.33333.............. = 10 x  --------------- equation 2

Now by multiplying in equation 1 by 100.

83.333........... = 100 x  ------------- equation 3

 By subtracting equation 2 from equation 3,

  100 x = 83.3333..........

    10 x = 8.33333........

 90 x  = 75

So, x = 75 / 90 = 5 / 6.

0.83333................... = 5 / 6  = p / q.

Where, p = 5 and q = 6.

We have to write 0.8333... in the form of p/q and q should be ≠ 0.

Let x = 0.8333... --------(1)

Multiplying both sides by 10.

10 × x = 10 × 0.8333...

10x = 8.333... --------(2)

Subtract equation (1) from (2)

10x - x = 8.333... - 0.8333...

9x = 7.5

x = 7.5/9

Hence 0.8333... = 7.5/9
