Joule's law of heating :-

According to joules law of heating the heat produced in a resistor R when a current I flow through it for time T is given by expression :-

h =  {i}^{2} rt

The heat produced in a resistor :-

  • Is directly proportional to the square of current flowing through it .
  • Is directly proportional to resistance.
  • Is directly proportional to the time for which current flow through it .

The application of joules law of heating.

  • It is used in heating element like electric heater.
  • It is used in electric iron .
  • It is used in microoven for baking bread is based on heating effect of electric current .
