--The superior and inferior Vena cava brings the deoxygenated blood to the right atrium from where it is sent to the right ventricle (through tricuspid valve). From the right ventricle is is sent to the lungs by the pulmonary artery (through pulmonary valve)

. This is the first circulation of blood through the heart.

--From the lungs, the now oxygenated blood is brought back to the heart by pulmonary vein into the left atrium, from where it passes to the left ventricle (through bicuspid valve). From the left ventricle the blood is passed to the aorta (through aortic valve) and then circulated to the other parts of the body.

This is the second circulation of the blood through the heart

As you can see, the blood passes twice to the heart hence circulation in human beings is double circulation.
