Answer :-

i) It is given that area of two bedrooms and area of kitchen is 95 m²

⇒ Area of bedroom = 5 × x = 5x

⇒ Area of 2 berooms = 5x + 5x = 10x

⇒ Area of kitchen = 5 × y = 5y

Area of 2 bedrooms + Area of kitchen = 10x + 5y

⇒ 10x + 5y = 95

⇒ 2x + y = 19

Also,

⇒ x + 2 + y = 15

⇒ x + y = 13

Linear equations that describe this situation are 2x + y = 19 and x + y = 13.

ii) Length of rectangle = 15 m

Breadth = 5 + 5 + 2 = 12 m

Perimeter = 2 ( 15 + 12 )

= 2 ( 27 )

= 54 m

Length of the outer boundary of the layout = 54 m

iii) Area of 1 bedroom = 5x

Solving the linear equations -

⇒ 2x + y = 19 - (i)

⇒ x + y = 13 - (ii)

Multiplying (ii) by 2

⇒ 2x + 2y = 26 - (iii)

Subtracting equation ii from iii

⇒ 2x + 2y - 2x - y = 26 - 19

⇒ y = 7

Substituting in equation ii

⇒ x + y = 13

⇒ x + 7 = 13

⇒ x = 6

Area of bedroom = 5 × 6 = 30 m²

iv) Area of living room = Area of whole house - ( Area of 2 bedroom + Area of bathroom + Area of kitchen )

⇒ Area of whole house = 15 × 12 = 180 m²

⇒ Area of 2 bedroom = 2 × 30 = 60 m²

⇒ Area of bathroom = 5 × 2 = 10 m²

⇒ Area of kitchen = 5y = 5 × 7 = 35 m²

Area of living room = 180 - ( 60 + 10 + 35 )

= 180 - 105

= 75

Area of living room = 75 m²

v) Area of kitchen = 35 m²

Cost of laying tiles in the kitchen at a rate of Rs. 50 = 35 × 50

= Rs. 1750

Cost of laying tiles in the kitchen at a rate of Rs.50 per m² is Rs. 1750.
