It is generally felt that combination of political and social divisions is very dangerous and explosive.
democracy involves competition among various political party . their competition tents to divide any society.
if they start competing in terms of some existing social divisions it can make social divisions into political division and leds to conflict, violence or even distintegrated of a country.
The case of srilanka and yugoslovia are clear examples . while political competitions along religious and ethnic lines led to the disintegreted of yugoslovia into six independent countries. the situation in Srilanka is also very explosive.social division between the Sinhalaese and the tamils are affecting the politics of the country to a graet extent and have brought it in a civil war situstion.
