The area of shaded portion is (π/4)r^2.

Given,

The radius of circle = OA = OB = r

∠ AOB = 90°

Area of shaded portion = Area of triangle AOB - Area of sector AOB

Area of triangle AOB

= 1/2 × OA × OB

= 1/2 × r × r

= 1/2r^2

Area of sector AOB

= ∅/360° × π × r^2

= 90°/360° × π × r^2

= 1/4πr^2

Now,

Area of shaded portion = 1/2r^2 - 1/4πr^2

= 1/2r^2 ( 1- 1/2 × π)

= 1/2r^2 ( π/2 )

= (π/4)r^2
