The steps involved to prepare a temporary mount of lead peel to show stomata are
1. Take a monocot leaf and using a forcep peel of the lower epidermis.
2.Place it in a watch glass with water and don't allow the leaf to curl up.
3. Add a few drops of safranin stain and let the leaf peel soak in it for a while.
4. Take a clean glass slide a place the leaf peel(it is better if the leaf peel is in a small square shape).
5. Remove the excess stain using a blotting paper.
6. Add a drop of glycerin on the leaf peel remove the excess glycerin using a blotting paper or filter paper,
(Blot the excess stain or glycerin from the sides of the peel and not from the top).
7. Carefully place a clean coverslip on top of the leaf peel without forming any air bubbles. Press the cover slip gently.
8. Observe the glass slide of the temporary leaf peel under a microscope.
