Step-by-step explanation:

quantity of water filled by tap A in one minute

= 1/40

quantity of water filled by tap A & B in one minute

= 1/30

quantity of water filled by tap B in one minute

= 1/30 - 1/40

= (40 - 30)/120

= 10/120

= 1/20

Time taken by tap B to fill a tank alone

= 1/(1/20)

= 20 minutes
