Given simultaneous equations

are

4x + y = 34 ---( 1 )

x + 4y = 16 ---( 2 )

Now , multiply equation ( 2 ),

With 4 , we get

4x + 16y = 64 --( 3 )

Subtract ( 1 ) from ( 3 ) ,we get

15y = 30

=> y = 30/15

y = 2

Substitute y = 2 in equation ( 2 ),

we get

x+ 4× 2 = 16

=> x = 16 - 8

=> x = 8

Therefore ,

x = 8 , y = 2
