The full form of IPS is Indian Police Service. Also, it is one of the All India Services (others are IAS, IFS, IRS, IFoS), etc. The IPS Officers can be employed under the centre as well as the states. It replaced the Indian Imperial Police in 1948. Further, an IPS officer needs to ensure the safety of citizens by taking care of the law and order. They also command and provide leadership to state and UTs’ police forces, CAPF forces (BSF, SSB, CRPF, CISF & ITBP), National Security Guards, etc. Moreover, the Indian Police Service is a job sought by many youngsters who wish to actively participate in the day to day affairs of the nation.
