αβ = d/a = -4

now,

=α^2 + β^2 - αβ

we know [ α^2+β^2 = (α+β)^2 - 2αβ^2 ]

so,

=(α + β)^2 - 2αβ - αβ

=(1)^2 -2(-4) - (-4)

=1 + 8 + 4

=13
