Given:

A triangular region is inscribed in a semi-circle with center O as shown in the figure below.

To find:

Find the area  of the shaded region.

Solution:

Consider the attached figure while going through the following steps.

The diameter of the semicircle = AB = 42 cm

⇒ The radius of the semicircle = OA = OB = OC = AB/2 = 42/2 = 21 cm

Area of shaded portion = Area of semicircle - Area of triangle

= π × r²/2 - 1/2 × b × h

= π × OA²/2 - 1/2 × AB × OC

= 22/7 × 21²/2 - 1/2 × 42 × 21

= 11 × 63 - 21 × 21

= 693 - 441

= 252 cm²

Therefore, the area of the shaded region is 252 cm²

Answer:

77 cm2

Step-by-step explanation:

0 = radius = 7cm = height

base = 14 cm

area of a triangle:

1/2*base*height

=1/2*14*7

=49 cm 2

area of a semicircle:

1/2*pie*radius square

=1/2*22/7*7 square

=1/2*22/7*49

=77 cm 2
