03. In a class test, Madhuri got 36 marks. She had written 12 questions correct. Each correct answer carries 5 marks and wrong answer carries -3 marks. i) How many wrong answers she would have written? ii) What marks will she get if she writes 10 correct answers and 10 wrong answers?​

Case 1 :

Madhuri wrote 12 correct answers.

So she should get 60 marks for that.

But she got 36.

That means 60 - 36 = 24 marks were deducted for her wrong answers.

Since each wrong answer carries -3 marks

Therefore, she wrote 24 ÷ 3 = 8 wrong answers.

Case 2:

Madhuri writes 10 right answers.

So she gets 10 × 5 = 50 marks for that.

But she writes 10 wrong answers as well.

So 10 × 3 = 30 marks get deducted from her paper.

Therefore, she gets 50 - 30 = 20 marks.
