Given:- Height is 45m, g is 10m/s^2 initial velocity = 0 (because the stone is dropped and not thrown)

Solution:-
We know S = ut + 1/2 (g)(t^2)
45 = 0t + 1/2 (10) t^2
45 = 5t^2
t^2 = 9
t = +- 3
and time cannot be negative, t=3sec
Therefore the stone takes 3 seconds to reach the water.
