Bcc stands for blind carbon copy which is similar to that of Cc except that the Email address of the recipients specified in this field do not appear in the received message header and the recipients in the To or Cc fields will not know that a copy sent to these address.
Difference between BCC and CC :-
- Carbon Copy (CC) :
- Carbon Copy (CC) :CC stands for Carbon Copy It is mainly used to send E mail’s carbon copy to the recipients and each recipient will able to see the list of all other recipients. When we want to send an email to someone without addressing them personally, then CC is used.
- Blind Carbon Copy (BCC) :
- Blind Carbon Copy (BCC) :BCC stands for Blind Carbon Copy. It is mainly used to send E mail’s carbon copy to the multiple recipients but each recipient will not be able to see the list of all other recipients. When we want to send email to large number of recipients, BCC is used.

BCC- Blind Carbon Copy; used when you want to send the same mail to others apart from the person who it is being addressed to, without him knowing about it.

A few practical applications for CC:
- When you want to get the work done by a someone, you mark his/ her boss. If he/ she is the boss, too bad
- When you want others to know that someone has not done their job; this is most often used by bosses
- When you want other team members to know that they can also help, but, they hardly do and then you repeat step 1
A few practical applications for BCC:
- When you are writing a promotional mail to your clients, and do not want one client to find out that you are writing to many
- When you write a stinker to someone, wanting them to do the work, but also want brownie points from their/ your boss for being on top of things
- When you write a nasty mail to your boss and want your team members to know that you have taken the first step, and now they can also start.
