Given : box plot with min at 6, Q1 at 7.5, median at 8, Q3 at 23, max at 32.5

To Find :  will the mean or the median provide a better description of the center

The mean, because the data distribution is symmetrical

The median, because the data distribution is symmetrical

The mean, because the data distribution is skewed to the right

The median, because the data distribution is skewed to the right

Solution:

Min at 6

Q1  7.5

Q2 - Median 8

Q3  at 23

Max at 32.5

(7.5 + 23)/2 = 15.25 > 8

Hence data distribution is skewed to the right

when a data distribution is skewed,  median is used to describe the center

Hence correct answer is :

The median, because the data distribution is skewed to the right
