Answer:

It is difficult to guess. But probably it was the narrator’s self confidence or self belief, which created the illusion of another plane flying nearby.

As other concrete evidences in the story from control centre indicate, there was no other plane flying at that time. So may be the illusion theory holds more water.

Explanation:

Before deliberating on the question, the first thing of all we have to resolve the mystery of the black aeroplane. some might say that it was a ghost plan, but this is a far-fetched Idea, especially in this scientific age, where the existence of ghost is questionable it is hard to believe that it was a ghost plane or a ghost was flying it. you may say it was unmamed plan which was on rescue operation. but it is an unconvinciable too.science has not yet reached this stage to save an aeroplane in such a danger. the third possibility is that it was real aero plane. this to cannot be possible since it was not seen on screen of the radar then it might be a figment of the imagination of the pilot of old Dakota was in trouble we conclude that there was no black aeroplane as such we conclude that there was no pilot to help the narrator.
