A electric fuse is used to limit the current in an electric circuit which safeguards the circuit if the current in the circuit exceeds due to voltage fluctuations or short circuiting.

- when high voltage is come in the circuit the fuse get melt and circuit court break so the current do not reach the appliances and do not harm them
- generally the fuse is connected in the live wire before connect in any appliances
