Answer:

The aim of this study was to explore the antioxidative effects of Loxidan feed supplementation against accelerated metabolic rate during midpregnancy in Beetal goats. Thirty-two multiparous pregnant Beetal goats were randomly assigned into two groups supplemented group (n16) and control group (n16). Supplemented group was offered antioxidant enriched diet (Loxidan) at 120mg/kg/head daily during three months of experiment. Loxidan feed analysis revealed that it contains phenolics, flavonoids, antioxidant capacity, carotenoids, lycopenes and ascorbic acids (P>0.05). Blood was sampled every 15 days during mid-pregnancy (60 to 105 days) for the assessment of serum biochemical parameters. Results revealed that it contains total antioxidant activity, lycopenes and total carotenoids were found significantly higher as compared to control group (P<0.05), while total phenolic contents, total flavonoids, ascorbic acid, ascorbate peroxidase, malondialdehyde, superoxide dismutase and catalase remained statistically similar in both supplemented and control groups (P>0.05). Moreover, antioxidant enriched supplementation increased initial kids’ weight, daily weight gain, total average weight gain as compared to control group. Overall, results indicated that loxidan supplementation increased the antioxidant status by alleviating oxidative stress and thus improving goat production.
