Explanation:
Grandparents- Our Mirror to see the Past
There is a huge age gap difference between our grandparents and us. Approximately we are about 50 years apart from each other and there is a massive difference between our lives and generations. My grandfather says everything seems like the same but nothing is really the same.
He said that there were only few choices for them growing up as a student. They all went to the same public school, studied the same subjects, and wore the same uniform though there were few other schools in the town. He said that they did not have many restaurants or places where they could hang out. They would instead gather at someone else's house and prepare all the things they wanted to eat while listening to songs from the radio.
Today, we hardly see a radio but back then in my grandparents' time, radio was the muse of their lives. My grandmother said that girls worked very hard both at home and schools. She said she hardly got the time to visit her friends even at weekends. The clothes available at stores were very limited and all had the same design which were not any shorter than the knee length. She said she always wanted to try a shorter dress but never had the courage to wear it. She still makes a joke out it today.
My grandparents said that human values were always treated with highest respect and that it should never change even in the future. They said that they had to respect elders and seniors and obey their parents at all times. They could not ask much from their parents as income was tight and at the same time, their wants were also limited.
Grandfather says that in my generation there are endless varieties of wants and that is why we are always unhappy and depressed. He always tell me to buy and asks for the things that I only need and in that way, I would always be happy. It is important to learn to be happy with what we have like our grandparents. They didn't have much but they were always contented.
