09: If 35 men can paint a building in 8 days, in how many days will 20 men paint the same building?​

Work = Rate * Time

You have to assume that each man works at the same rate (R) all the time, then the rates are additive, so that the cumulative rate is 35R,

Then 1 paint job = 35R*8.

The rate then for each man is 1/(35*8) = R = 1/280

Now, when 20 men paint, assume they all have the same rate

So 1 paint job = 20(1/280)*T = 20T/280 = T/14= 1 paint job

Solving for T, T = 14 days
