Apical meristem: They are present at the tips of stems, roots, and branches. They are responsible for the axial growth in a plant.

Intercalary meristem: They are present at the base of internodes, and are responsible for the growth of internodal region.

Lateral meristem: They are present on the lateral side of stems and roots. Lateral meristem is responsible for the radial growth of plants. Vascular cambium and cork cambium are examples of lateral meristem.

Answer:–

(1) Apical meristems–These are situated at the growing tip of the steams and roots i.e Shoot apex (fig. 3.4) and root apex (fig 3.5) . Apical meristems are also found at apices of the leaves.

(2) Intercalary meristems -They are located at the base of leaves or internode. eg stems of grasses

and other monocots.

(3) Lateral meristems –These are found beneath the bark (called cork cambium) and in vascular bundles of dicot roots and stems (called vascular cambium). They occur in thin layer.
