1,024 trees are planted in a grid fashion such that the number of rows is equal to the number of columns. One row and one column of trees are cut such that the number of rows and columns after cutting remain equal. Find the number of trees that were left?

Answer:

Let there be 'x' no. of Rows

Therefore no. of columns is 'x'

because rows=columns

As per given condition

=x × x=1024

=x square=1024

therefore,

x=32

One row & one columns cut

thus,

No. of rows=columns=31

Trees left=31×31=961

Answer:961
