(-1)×(-1)×(-1)×.......171 times

= (-1)^171

= -1.

It can be clearly observed that when a pair of negatives is multiplied, the product is positive [(-) × (-) = (+)]..

In the above question, (-1) is multiplied by itself 171 times which is a odd times........ which means a negative will be left out while multiplying the pairs. So, the product will be negative.
