Answer:

This is called the Coriolis Effect. The Coriolis Effect, in combination with an area of high pressure, causes the prevailing winds—the trade winds—to move from east to west on both sides of the equator across this 60-degree "belt."

The planetary wind that blows from Tropical high pressure belt to the Equatorial Low pressure belt is known as South Westerly wind.

  • The pressure system in the atmosphere depends upon the direction of the wind and named upon them. Usually, the wind around the Earth flows from High Pressure belt to Low pressure belt in order to fill the gap created by the rising up to air in the region.
  • When the air rises up, it creates a vaccum in the atmospheric region which is then filled up by the High Pressure wind system. Mostly, they travel from the Subtropical High pressure belt to Equatorial Low pressure belt. Due to the Coriolis force, which deflects the direction of wind blowing to the left and hence the wind is known as South Westerly wind.

As they are deflected towards the South west direction in the atmosphere.
