\colorbox{blue}{1 answer}

The mixture of rock particle sand humus is called the soil.

If soil contains greater proportion of big particles it is called sandy soil. If the proportion of fine particles is relatively higher, then it is called clayey soil. If the amount of large and fine particles is about the same, then the soil is called loamy.

\colorbox{green}{2 answer}

Percolation rate (ml/min) = amount of water (ml) / percolation time (min). For example, If 200 ml of water is percolated through the soil sample in 40 min.

\colorbox{lime}{3 answer}

=5 mL/min. Hence, the rate of percolation of water through the given soil sample is 6 mL/min.

Silt clay, silt clay loam and clay are some of the soil textures that are best for rice farming. Fertile riverine alluvial soil is best for rice cultivation. Although pH of rice soil become neutral, it should be 5 - 8. Because, if soil is more acidic or more alkaline, it will need more time to become neutral.

\colorbox{yellow}{5 answer}

  • sandy loam soils

Cotton plants tend to do well in deep, well-drained, and highly fertile sandy loam soils with a pH between 5.5 and 7.5—cotton plants are vulnerable to the aluminum concentration often found in soils with a pH below that range. The ideal range, according to Southeast Missouri State University, is between 6 and 6.5.

\colorbox{lightgreen}{6 answer}

  • sandy loam soils

Lentils grow best in deep, sandy loam soils, however they will grow in all soil types with good drainage (Oplinger et al., 1990; Elzebrok and Wind, 2008).

\colorbox{aqua}{7 answer}

Soil erosion is a naturally occurring process that affects all landforms. In agriculture, soil erosion refers to the wearing away of a field's topsoil by the natural physical forces of water (Figure 1) and wind (Figure 2) or through forces associated with farming activities such as tillage.

\colorbox{gold}{8 answer}

  • Crop Rotation: Rotating in high-residue crops — such as corn, hay, and small grain — can reduce erosion as the layer of residue protects topsoil from being carried away by wind and water.
  • Conservation Tillage: Conventional tillage produces a smooth surface that leaves soil vulnerable to erosion.

\colorbox{violet}{9 answer}

  • By reducing the use of plastics, we can reduce soil pollution.
  • By controlling the use of chemical fertilisers and pesticides, we can control soil pollution.
  • Treating industrial waste before releasing.

\colorbox{darkorange}{10 answer}

Clay and loam are suitable for growing wheat, gram and paddy. Cotton is grown in sandy loam soil. Soil holds water in it, which is called soil moisture. The capacity of a soil to hold water is important for various crops.
