Given :- A father is three times as old as his son. Ten years ago, father was eight times as old as his son. The present age of the son is ?

Solution :-

Let us assume that, the present age of the son is x years.

so,

→ Father present age = 3 * x = 3x years .

now,

→ 10 years ago, son was = (x - 10) years old.

→ 10 years ago, father was = (3x - 10) years old .

A/q,

→ 8(x - 10) = 3x - 10

→ 8x - 80 = 3x - 10

→ 8x - 3x = 80 - 10

→ 5x = 70

→ x = 14 years (Ans.)

Hence, present age of the son is 14 years.
