1/10th of total passengers of a train were children.   Number of children = 75   If 75 is 1/10th of total passengers, total passengers = 75 ÷ (1/10) = 75×10 = 750   Adults = total passengers - children = 750 - 75 = 675   Number of adults is 675.

given

1/10 of passengers were children .

so , 10 - 1/10 = 9/10.

so 9/10 were adults.

if 1/10 = 75 children

then 9/10 = ? adults.

9/10 x 75 = 67.5

67.5 ÷ 10/1 = 675.

hence number of adults were in train = 675.
