Explanation:

The Education Minister Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal on September 15, 2020, released an eight-week alternative academic calendar, developed by NCERT, for senior secondary students. It would be thus applicable to all the students of classes 9 to 12 following the syllabus by NCERT. The calendar aims to use technology and social media tools to provide education to students while they are studying from home.

The Ministry of Education took to its Twitter account to release the information about the calendar. Earlier it was launched for secondary and higher secondary stages for 4 weeks which was designed for 12 weeks. Take a look at the tweet here.

As per the latest Unlock 4.0 Guidelines, schools and colleges would start in a staggered manner for senior secondary students that is students of classes 9-12 from September 21, 2020. It is up to the students to join schools physically or study from home as per the Ministry of Home Affairs. Check out the entire calendar here.

As per the ministry of education, the Calendar aims to empower our students, teachers, school principals and parents with positive ways to deal with Covid19 via online teaching-learning resources and achieve the best possible learning outcomes. It contains week-wise plans of various challenging activities, with reference to theme/chapter taken from syllabus or textbook. Through this, the Education Minister has appealed to all the educators to stay safe at home and come online to support their children and students to learn at home. The Ministry asks the educators to use mobile phones, SMS, Television, Radio or various Social Media tools to fulfil this task.

A four-week Alternative Academic Calendar, AAC had already been released by the Minister of Human Resource and Development, MHRD and had been uploaded on the NCERT website. It is already being implemented in the states and Union Territories.
