Answer:

The cost price is Rs 20  and The selling price is Rs 25.8

Step-by-step explanation:

Given as :

\dfrac{1}{17} of c.p = \dfrac{1}{22} of s.p

i.e 22 c.p  = 17 s.p

Or, 22 c.p - 17 s.p = 0                   .........A

Again

10% of c.p - 5 % of s.p = 12

Or, 10 c.p - 5 s.p = 12 × 100

i.e 2 c.p - s.p = 240                      ..........B

Solving eq A and eq B

(22 c.p - 17 s.p ) - 17 × ( 2 c.p - s.p ) = 0 - 240

Or, (22 c.p - 34 c.p) + (-17 s.p + 17 s.p) = - 240

Or, 12 c. p = 240

∴   c.p = \dfrac{240}{12}

i.e cost price = Rs 20

Put the value of c.p in eq A

  22 c.p - 17 s.p = 0

Or, 17 s.p = 22 × 20

i.e s.p = \dfrac{440}{17}

Or, s.p = Rs 25.8

Hence, The cost price is Rs 20  and The selling price is Rs 25.8 Answer
