(-1)2 = (-1) × (-1) = 1
(-1)3 = (-1)2× (-1) = 1× (-1) = -1
(-1)4 = (-1)3× (-1) = (-1) × (-1) = 1
(1x6)
(-1)5 = (-1)4× (-1) = 1 × (-1) = -1
What do you see? We get the values of even powers as 1 and the odd powers as -1
That is if ‘n’ is odd (-1) n = -1, if ‘n’ is even (-1) n = 1.

Question :

We get The values of even powers as 1 and the odd power as -1

That is is 'n' is odd power then (-1) ^n = -1

If 'n' is even power then (-1)^n = 1

Answer :

It's TRUE that we get the values as (-1) if its powers are odd orelse we get (1) if its power is even

Example :

(-1)^3 = -1 × -1 × -1 => -1 (where 3 is odd number

(-1)^4 = -1 × -1 × -1 × -1 => 1 ( where 4 is even number)

(-2) ^3 = -2 × -2 × -2 => -8

(-2)^4 = -2 × -2 × -2 × -2 => 16
