Solution :

Let 1/(2x + 3y) be u and 1/(3x - 2y) be v.

Then,

➵ 1u/2 + 12v/7 = 1/2

➵ (7u + 24v)/14 = 2

7u + 24v = 7 ___(i)

7u + 4v = 2 ___(ii)

_________________________

On subtracting (ii) from (i),

➵ 20v = 5

v = 1/4

Then, u = (2 - 4v)/7

➵ u = (2 - 1)/7

v = 1/7

______________________________

Therefore,

➵ 2x + 3y = 7 ___(iii)

➵ 3x - 2y = 4 ___(iv)

By doing 2 × (iii) and 3 × (iv)

➵ 4x + 6y = 14

➵ 9x - 6y = 12

______________________________

On adding both we get,

x = 2

and y = (7 - 2x)/3

➵ y = (7 - 4)/3

y = 1

Hence value of x is 2 and y is 1.
